Geospatial/Geographic Information System (GIS)

Bozeman, Montana, August 23–24, 2017

This seminar will assist with building geospatial analytical capacity to support the access, use, and analysis of imagery. The event will address the utilization of geospatial information to identify, process, and analyze specialized-threat topic areas and the associated patterns, trends, skills, and resources necessary to effectively monitor and evaluate potential threats. Partner organizations include the DHS Geospatial Management Office (GMO) and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).


These 1½- to 2-day seminars will be presented in the following format: (1) detailed overview of the topic area from multiple SME perspectives, including associated patterns, trends, and potential impacts; (2) dynamic presentation of case studies, tools, and/or resources; and (3) discussion of available training, techniques, and approaches to support implementation and/or enhancement of associated analytic capabilities

Target Audience

Participation in this program is targeted to state and major urban area fusion center analysts, as well as analysts from High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Investigative Support Centers (ISC), Regional Information Sharing Systems® (RISS) Centers, and major city/county intelligence units. Each seminar will be limited to approximately 50 participants to foster dynamic, specialized interaction.


There is no cost to attend these events. Prospective attendees may be able to utilize grant funds from the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) to cover travel costs associated with this training. Contact your State Administrative Agency (SAA) training point of contact to ensure that attendance is coordinated and approved prior to registering for the course. The SAA may have specific requirements regarding training activities supported with HSGP funds.
